Are you Ready to Learn Online? Online readiness self-assessments are often used by instructors to encourage students to check their preparedness for online learning. We are currently in a unique situation, as many instructors have not chosen to teach fully online courses, and many students have not chosen to learn this way. In either case, it is important for students to be as prepared as possible in order to alleviate potential problems. Readiness assessments can help students identify their own unique gaps in preparedness for virtual learning, and find potential solutions to help them succeed. Gaps in preparedness might include time management skills, study skills, motivation, and/or writing ability, among others. Solutions might include accessing Cal Poly student support services, Canvas support resources, and using Canvas tools and features, such as the Calendar, to stay on track. Consider including a readiness assessment, along with some information about successful study strategies, in your first week's instructions for your students. Below you will find several sample surveys to share with your students.
